TMI but need your feedback
On Tuesday morning I woke up to some diarrehea that last about an hour. After I used the bathroom, I was fine for the rest of the day. Then again, I had the same problem Wednesday and Thursday morning. Nothing today until around 3:30. I am not having cramping or anything but I still get worried that it could be affecting the baby. I tried to figure out if I am eating something that is causing me to have to “go” and the only thing I can think of is the iced tea I drink from the bagel shop in the mornings. It’s the only thing I have eaten consistently and just recently have had cravings for. Could iced tea be a diaretic?

Re: TMI but need your feedback
There is conflicting information on whether or not tea is a diuretic due to the caffeine content.
I would cut it out and see what happens.
Feel better!

The caffeine could have that affect on you.
Are you eating extra dairy or anything fatty? That might bother your stomach.

Iced tea is a diaretic, yes.
I know I have this problem when I eat sauce or cheese.
Feel better!

No I'm not eating anything that is terrible or out of the norm for me. I've just started drinking the iced tea, a big cup, everyday. I think I should cut it out and see what happens.

For me, caffeine is a MAJOR diuretic. I would probably avoid it if I were you.

Re: TMI but need your feedback
I think you're sick...... becuase I think I'M sick with the same thing!
(TMI alert) I drank a caffeine-free cola before going to bed... within an hour I had horrible gas and cramping. I attributed it to the bubbles.
It only passed when I went to the bathroom a couple times in the middle of the night and got major diahrea.... I thought the carbonation was just too much for me late at night, and that was it.
well, the next morning, I STILL had diahrea. And when I ate my salad, I felt very full and bloated.
Since I'm a scientist, I like to find negative controls... DH, obviously NOT pregnant , also felt bloated by the salad. (all ingredients were extremely fresh, so it's nothing like that) Both he and I are tired today, and only came in for a 1/2 day of work. I actually slept 12 hours last night
Today, no digestive problems, but I feel like I can't eat all the veg / fiber I normally do... I'm on a modified sickie diet. I think this intestinal thing will pass.... pardon the pun. I have no fever, and will likely feel better tomorrow....

Re: TMI but need your feedback
I should add... if you DON'T think you're sick.... it likely could be not the caffeine in the ice tea, but rather how well the ice tea urn is sanitized by the bagel shop.
I unfortunately have had the experience of getting an ice tea at a take-out shop.... and then realized something wasn't right about it.
I don't recall what the exact scenario was, since it was about 5 years ago, but in the end, we figured out that the container was merely refilled / rinsed, and seldom cleaned.
Since then, I'm a bit apprehensive to get ice tea from one of those large dispenser urns.

Thank you so much for both of your posts. I have the same thing you described. But, last night I had a glass of soda and ended up getting some major gas. I think I need to cut out caffine for a few days to give my body a rest. I don't have that much to begin with (maybe a glass a day including the iced tea) but you never know what your body will do when you get pregnant!
