Q for the ebayers...
Typically, who pays shipping when returning an item due to negligence by the seller? And, should I expect that return payment to me should be grossed up for any PayPal fees I may incur?
Here's the story: I won an auction for a disproportionately expensive cookbook magazine. Seller sent it in a padded envelope and it arrived folded and rolled. I've purchased similar items from other sellers and they've been shipped with heavy cardboard on both sides to prevent such folding and rolling. I wrote to the seller and we agreed that I'd return the item (I haven't opened the envelope). I write again to confirm the return address and she replys that "her policy" (not shown on the item listing) is that she doesn't reimburse for my costs of shipping it back to her. I'm not inclined to pay a dime for her negligence. What do you think?

"her policy" should also include shipping a correctly packaged item.
I would write and let her know that you are not pleased and YOU are not willing to pay the return shipping for an incorrectly packaged item. I would somehow (but not too sternly) remind her that feedback does come with your satisfied transaction
