those poor parents. it was a blessing is disguise that the police came to the apartment. who knows what could have happened to the children if the police did not arrive.

this is really upsetting.....I heard on TV that they do not think the "babysitter" gave the alcohol to the baby but instead the sitter passed out and the baby drank his drink!!

i am bumping this because i am curious how others think the situation should be handled.
IMO, it was beyond irresponsible for the uncle to get drunk and pass out. however (i am not defending him, just assessing the situation) perhaps he thought a drink or 2 would keep him up as it was late and he was excited that his SIL was having a baby.
in the parents defense, it was late and maybe the uncle was there last resort. she was in pain and anxious to get to the hospital. upon hearing that the boy was being taken to the hospital, the mother was so distraught that she had difficuluty delivering the baby. thank god the police came when they did and the boy is now safe.
it was a horrible and unfortunate circumstance but the parents have been through enough. of course the matter should be looked into to determine if there has been past occurences or signs of child abuse but i also feel that the police should tread very lightly.

I just read this too - they said he was slapped with an order of protection, but were not able to report who filed it.

here is the update but doesn't go into details as to why the father is barred from seeing the kids.
i really do hope that the police haven't made any decisions in haste. i feel so bad for that poor mother.
