What are the chances?
That I can get a sono tonight at my 16 week check up and find out what we're having?
I'm afraid they'll tell me 4 weeks before I can come in again. If the anatomy check is between 18 and 22 then I want to go in at 18! Did you have to wait 4 weeks? Did anyone find out at 16?

I wanna go in at 18wks too. I just made my appt.
I would think that at 16wks they have a real good idea of what it will be. I think the only reason they wait till 18 is to do the whole anatomy of the babys body.

Re: What are the chances?
my doc told I had to wait until I was at least 20 because all the other things they need to check need to be in the right stage (heart size, kidneys, brain, etc)

Re: What are the chances?
I had my first level II at 16weeks, 6 days and they told me it was a girl. This was confirmed at 20 weeks at my 2nd level II (they could not get all the measurements at the 16 week one)

Re: What are the chances?
with my dr's office the sono techs are right there so all the "scheduled" visits (sonos and check-ups) are scheduled at different times - it's up to me as the patient to decide when i want to go in - but they do give me a guideline.
i would love to go in at 18W but i will be in california so i will see if maybe i can just go in the week i come back! i didn't even think of going before 20 weeks!

I don't know. I am wondering the same things only I am 12 weeks. I would think the doctor would be able to make an "educated guess" for me, and especially for you since you are 16 weeks.

I was able to find out the gender at my amnio at 16 weeks and 6 days. The doctor and the nurse were pretty adamant about what they saw.

Re: What are the chances?
I didn't have a sono between 12 weeks and 20 weeks. At 12 weeks they said they had no idea.
Good luck!
eta - my best friend had a sono at 17 weeks and they told her they couldn't tell what it was. She later found at 20 weeks she was having a

Re: What are the chances?
You’re so funny. I was thinking the same thing! I have my 16 week appt on Friday (can’t wait) and I sorta hope they can ‘lean’ toward boy *crosses fingers* cause the 12 u/s they leaned towards girl.
I don’t mind waiting for the 20 week because I think that’s a level II with all the measurements and etc, so then I’ll feel more positive that they know if they see a nut tree or a cherry bush.
I am also DYING to see how much fatter I’ve gotten since I’ve been eating like a PIG!

what they "saw" - as in there was "something" to see?? is that a hint?

Re: What are the chances?
its possible they can tell...i found out pretty early i guess, i think it was about 16 or 17 weeks and my little was spread eagle and very un-lady like.. and i went back a few weeks later (i see a specialist as well and get many sonos) and they said, yep, she is still a girl...so i think its possible.. but i wouldnt bank on def. finding out.. you never know, your baby's legs could be crossed or something.. but let us know if you find out! goodluck!

Do you have to go someplace else to have your sonos done?
I knew she was going to give me the script at my 18 week appointment, so I called at 14 weeks and made the appointment for 12 hours later (8am and my appointment was at 8pm the night before)
Yeah, I wanted to know BAD!
