Qualifications section on Resume...

I got rid of it a while ago but recently read an article that says it is necessary on a resume.

Does everyone have it? Do you have it bulleted or in paragraph form...? If you have it in sentences, are they compelte or fragments of info?

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Qualifications section on Resume...

I'm in your field (as you know Chat Icon ) and have a 3-page CV, but no section for qualifications. If you want I can email you my CV to show what i have. i've been on way too many search committees recently, and i don't often see the qualifications section in our field.

i recommend bullets -- much easier to read overall for everything.

i have a 'skills and qualifications' section that just bullets out regular programs i'm familiar with (ie office) and then programs relevant to my industry, etc.

Re: Qualifications section on Resume...

in my field, teaching, that was always covered under education and certifications. depending upon your field, i would assume things like a certain license, certifcate or degree earned would deem you qualified and i would list it under those areas. but if you're in something where you have to have specific skills sets and membership in a particulalr organization, that would seem to fit well under "qualificatiosn." i think you could make that category very broad or very narrow, depending upon where you put other things like degrees earned, etc.

The best Qualifications sections I've seen have bulleted sentence fragments that each start with a strong verb.
