AI Question

Are they going to be doing music by the Beatles for the whole season?

It's totally turning DH and I off from the show.

Re: AI Question

No, they extended it to 2 weeks and I think they know it was a big mistake. Next week will be something different.

It;s boring me anyway and I am a huge fan Chat Icon

Re: AI Question

I said this last night and I'll say it again...

The Beatles have an incredible catalog of music that will stand the test of time. BUT, IMO, they are known for song writing skills and musical composition moreso than amazing vocals.

I think it was up to the contestants to stretch themselves as well as create arrangements of songs that were never meant to be re-interpreted. I cannot think of ONE Beatles song in which any one of them had outstanding vocals. If that was the case, how can it be expected that these semi-novices would?

JMO.

Paul McCartney actually has a great voice IMO. I agree that John was not much of a singer.

JMO, but it is harder to sing and sustain a simple melodic line then it is to sing a ton of runs and scream a few notes.

I agree that it's more technically difficult to sing melodies. But I see what Lesle's saying - the songs of the Beatles, though they take talent to sing, aren't really great for a show like AI where the contestants need to "wow" the audience. I think the Beatles' writing style was more about the melodies and harmonies and instrumentals all fitting together beautifully, rather than solely showing off vocal talent, and therefore aren't the best choice for two whole weeks of AI.
