My fear of the day -

I have a 4 year old Pomeranian named Peanut -

External Image

She has been our "only child" all 4 years of her life. We love her to pieces and don't want her to feel neglected, ever.

I am petrified of what Peanut is going to do once Chat Icon arrives.

She is a yapper so I am sure my child will not sleep the first 5 years of his life which doesn't scare me as much as her interacting with him. I hope she won't be nasty with him. Chat Icon

She will adjust, don't stress about it. Make sure before you come home from the hospital DH gives Peanut a blanket that has your baby's smell on it.

Check out these websites for help. Good luck!!

Re: My fear of the day -

I totally can relate!! Chat Icon My baby boy, Leo, is attached to me like glue. He is also a small dog [mini dachshund] and is 4 years old. I actually nursed him back to health from the time I brought him home at 8 weeks- he was so sick I thought he was going to die! Chat Icon He is also quite a barker and is skittish around alot of people- esp. kids. DH has 3 small kids from his previous marriage and Leo is still nervous around them! Esp. when little people move past or wave their hands around him. He is a nervous nellie! I have no idea what I'm going to do when Chat Icon comes along!! Leo is my baby!! Chat Icon

Re: My fear of the day -

awwww! Such cuties!!! Chat Icon

Well count me in!!! I have a 1 year old Jack Russell who likes to be the center of attention always and even follows us into the bathroom. Chat Icon

I've had my nephew (7 months old) and my niece (1 1/2 yrs old) around our house and he's been okay. Mostly he wants to smell them at first and then does his own thing. But i'm nervous about it still. I mean our baby won't be leaving after only a few hours, you know?

I don't want him to feel neglected, but i know at some point, he will since he wants so much attention as it is. Chat Icon

OMG - That face is to die for!!!!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Funny you mention nieces and nephews. I have 2 nephews (a 3rd on the way). They are 4 and 2. Both have been around Peanut since day 1 and she was always good with them. A little jumpy which would scare my nephews...but I don't think Chat Icon would be scared since he is being raised with Peanut.

But I am nervous that Peanut will get "sick" of him when he doesn't leave after a couple of days and get nasty.

She has never bit anyone. And the scariest I've seen her is growl at someone - which is actually amusing to me.

Guess I'm just concerned. I don't want her to go off the deep end.

Re: My fear of the day -

Well count me in too!

My Uno has been the baby of our family since we got him a year and a half ago. He is especially attached to me and while I'm not worried about him yapping or nipping at the baby, I do worry about him feeling neglected. DH's family loves to tell me how jealous Uno will be and how I'll no longer have time for him. One of their favorite sayings that that "Uno" will become "Dos." This drives me nuts!

I'm hoping, praying, and believing that I will find a way to still provide him with enough attention once the baby arrives. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
