Sympathy cards & money?
I'm sending a sympathy card to DH's cousin (she lost her baby at 32 weeks pregnant). We can't be there for the funeral but we are sending a card. Do I send money in the card? What amount is appropriate?
I haven't experienced a death as a married couple. The last string of deaths I experienced was in college and I never thought to donate or send money because I didn't have any.

I wouldn't send money in the card - either send flowers, food or make a donation to a relevant charity.

I've never heard of sending money.
I'd send food or make a donation, but not send money unless you feel the family needs it for the burial or something like that.

I thought you only send money for a happy occasion- birthdays for example.
I would only send the card and maybe order some flowers or a basket as a sympathy gift.

actually a lot of Italians send money when someone passes (or we used to?) but in this sitch I prob wouldn't.

money is the italian way... most people do flowers or such... those edible fruit arrangements are nice
