Gift for a communion?
I am going to a good friend's son 1st communion in April.
It's a restaurant in LI on a Saturday afternoon... what kind of gift do I give? I am planning on money just wondering about the range...(DH is coming with me)...is $100 too little or too much? Should I get an actual gift also.
I'm so confused...I'm not Catholic and this is the first communion I'm going to since I was a kid and went with my parents!
TIA!

Re: Gift for a communion?
For the last communion I went to, I gave the kid a $50 gift card to Toys R Us and a $50 savings bond which cost $25. It was a something for now/something for later - the mother thought it was great.

Re: Gift for a communion?
Traditional gifts include a bible, or a rosary, or some other piece of religious jewelry. Any of those would be great!
If you'd like to get something very special and you're willing to pay a little more for shipping and handling, I have gotten some lovely things from www.vaticangift.com It doesn't take a long time to ship.

I like gifts from abbey press
Savings bonds are always good. They might take a while to mature, but they definitely come in handy when you need them. (I used them to get a new car and pay for my wedding)

ditto, I give cash because jewelry and keepsakes normally the child will receive from their close family members. Same with christenings. I'm not a fan of bonds, you never know what the future will hold, might as well give it all upfront

Same.
If it's family, then a little more.
