HORRIBLE
I can't seem to link to it.. my office computer makes CNN look funny.
But omg.. how sad.
It was an 8 month old tuxedo kitten.
He put his hand over hers and stabbed it then finally straggled it to death.

WHAT IN THE H E L L is wrong with people?!?! I hate to sound like an old lady but things are getting WORSE and WORSE as time goes on - people are just BARBARIC and it is DISGUSTING! 
I feel like we keep getting more easy going on things and being more "open minded" and understanding when we need to be getting tougher and harsher - it seems like we are gaining so much tolerance for people when - in reality - we need to start having ZERO tolerance for things that are just SO inhumane and inconceivable!!!!

MUNCIE, Indiana (AP) -- A man was jailed Thursday on charges that he forced his 7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the pet.
Danield J. Collins, 39, told his children during a visit to his home Sunday that he wanted them to "learn how to kill" and gave his 11-year-old son a knife to do it, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
The boy tried to save the cat by hiding it under a sofa bed and putting ketchup on a knife when Collins went to the bathroom. But when the father realized that the cat was not dead, he forced his daughter to hold the knife and then held her hand tightly as he drove the knife into the animal, Muncie police Detective Jami Brown said.
Police said Collins stabbed and strangled the cat himself, and told his son to throw the dead pet in the trash. Officers retrieved the carcass to be used as evidence.
The children told family members about the incident Monday, the day after the alleged killing, according to the affidavit. The children told police that their father was drunk when they arrived at his home and that he's a different person when he's sober, it said.
The siblings live with their grandparents.
Collins was being held in the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. He's charged with one count each of animal cruelty and battery and two counts of neglect of a dependent. The battery charge alleges that the girl was injured because Collins held her hand so hard that it ached.
The jail had no record of an attorney representing Collins, and there were no published phone listings for him in Muncie.
Brown said the case was particularly troubling because Collins involved his children in killing the animal, an 8-month-old tuxedo-type cat named Boots.
"I've been doing investigations for 10 years, and this is really bothering me," the detective said. E-mail to a friend

i just read the article in Newsday.. its just SICK  i am so sick of hearing all these stories about killing pets.. i am so sad for those children right now

people are disgusting and this man should be charged and sentenced harshly. not only because this act was beyond cruel to the kitten, but because he has scarred his children for life.
people who hurt those (human or not) that can't defend themselves are deplorable. this story disgusts me, it's been in my head all day.

I don't even know what to say. W T F is wrong with people. Seriously, I have been around some pretty bizzare people, and we grew up in a hunting community, but NEVER...EVER did any one ever make someone kill their own cat to learn how to kill. ***** sick....just plain sick.

I'm physcially sick from reading that...
I hope he gets his... I agree with PP - he should rot in h*ll... there should be stricter punishments for animal cruelty... On top of the poor kitty, think of the psychological damage to those kids. Very disturbing story.

i just read this... so incredibly sad. i know that with animal cruelty cases you can only get up to about 2 yrs but maybe he can be jailed longer for child endangerment... IMO, he should be locked up for life. even when people are drunk they still know right from wrong!!!
