Excited about my Ebay auction, but need advice!
So I'm selling something on Ebay for the first time, and when I checked this morning, I got my first bid!
But I went to the bidder's profile out of curiosity, and he has 3% negative feedback (something like 14 negative/427 positive). Some comments were for not paying on items he won, some said the person was a scam seller.
I know it's just one bid and highly likely someone else will win, but how do I protect myself? I'm only accepting money order or paypal. If I receive a money order, that is perfectly safe I'm sure. But with Paypal, am I safe once I receive the payment into my account? Or could something go wrong after that?
Basically, I'm not sending out the item until I receive payment and know it is good. How do I know it is good with Paypal?
Thanks!

The thing with those negative comments is that you dont always know the whole story...they could have received a defective product, gave the seller negative feedback, and then the seller needed to give them negative feedback as well or if they were the seller the buyer could of just given them negative feedback without giving them a chance to rectify the situation...Although in general I like to see only positive feedback a "score" like that would make me happy..everyone has a bad day....

Agreed you don't know the whole story with that negative feedback... If it's all recent and all the same (and the seller has no recent positive feedback), I may be concerned... but just having negative feedback at all wouldn't bother me. Is the person normally a seller? Do they have positive buyer feedback?
However, just an FYI, in the future, yo may consider doing only PayPal... Money Orders are very easy to forge these days. (Think of all the money order scams.) I'm sure it'll be fine, but I'd still wait for it to clear your account before sending the item. I don't think too many Ebay buyers are forging money orders, but you never know...
With PayPal, once you receive the funds, they are safe.

Ohhh see how naive I am? I didn't even think of forging money orders as a potential issue. Thanks!

No, not naive at all. I'm probably just paranoid. (I get 2 or 3 Nigerian scam emails a day! LOL!!)
I've taken money orders from pay pal in the past and had no problems. Most people will use Pay Pal anyway!
