Made an appointment with Andrea Huggler
What should I expect at my first visit? My insurance doesn't cover accupuncture, so I am hoping this is worth the $!!!!

I have no idea, but GL!! Let me know how you made out and how much it cost (if you wouldn't mind). I emailed her also and was considering it but it would be like an hour and 20 min trip each way for me...

Re: Made an appointment with Andrea Huggler
I go to LI Holistic, but see one of the other women who work there. On my first appointment, we went over my medical history, infertility issues, and tests and treatments I've had so far. She asked a lot of questions about things like my stress level, diet, and sleeping patterns. There is a form online that I filled out beforehand and we discussed my answers in more detail. She explained the ideas behind acupuncture and a little bit about Chinese Medicine. She didn't do an actual treatment during the first session, but did put one needle in just so I could see how it felt. My insurance doesn't cover it either, but I feel like it's worth it. If not anything else, I feel like it relaxes me and I look forward to my weekly appointment.

Re: Made an appointment with Andrea Huggler
When is your appointment? I just called on Monday and made an appointment for the 22nd! I don't know who I am seeing though. Did you specifically ask for Andrea?
I didn't do it with my last round of IVF b/c of money and time and I really regret it. I really think it helped me when I cycled in 2005 and had my DS. It was so relaxing and energizing at the same time. This next cycle, I want to do everything possible to make it work so that's why I'm doing the accupuncture again.

Re: Made an appointment with Andrea Huggler
I'm a new patient of Andrea as well. My first appointment was last Friday and I have antoher appointment tonight. She asked a variety of questions about medical history, IF issues and such. The whole thing was about an hour. I liked that she asked a lot of questions because she was very thorough. She has such a soothing, calming way about her and I'm really looking forward to working with her. Let us know how it goes

Re: Made an appointment with Andrea Huggler
I just started there also. Thanks to a ton of recommendations on this site. I have been to 2 other acupuncturist and I can tell they know what they are doing regarding IF. The others were good acu's but weren't up on the IF issues. They were the only ones that asked what my FSH levels have been etc.... And actually seem to work through your cycle. I'll be starting my IVF cycle on Wednesday next week.
Oh just one more thing, I went yesterday for a treatment mostly for my stress. It's crazy elevated. Afterwards I felt so much better and I still feel so much more relaxed. Plus they have these wonderful heated beds.

Yes, I specifically asked for Andrea since she was recommended on this site. I am going next Friday. I am really looking forward to it. I am hoping it helps me with my IF issues, but also with my high stress level. I can't wait to be able to relax!!!! Even though I am not starting an IVF cycle, but rather an IUI this cycle, is it still okay that I am going for accupuncture? Do you think it's a "waste" if I'm not doing IVF?
