Help me with my Anniversary...
So Friday DH and I will be married for FIVE years...crazy. Even crazier, we have no plans.
We were gonna do a hotel stay in the city and dinner at Nobu, but the hotel rooms are ridiculous
SO, any help or ideas would be great for stuff to do. We are laidback, looking to have fun and laugh at each other (although that will happen anywhere)
Thanks in advance

Where are you located? There's a lovely romantic restaurant in Islip called The Gatsby...reminds me of a castle. AMybe walk around Main Street after...there are a lot of cute little stores.

oooh, that sounds good. basically we are in Nassau, but willing to go east for sure. And being that Aunt Kristi is babysitting, an overnight stay is a possibility.

Re: Help me with my Anniversary...
We did an overnight in Montauk one March, and it was so nice. Still pretty deserted so we walked the beach alone, and had the nice restaurants mostly to ourselves.

Re: Help me with my Anniversary...
not sure how much the Manhattan hotels or (or how much is too much) but what about checking out what Brooklyn has to offer.
The Hotel Bleu
the Brooklyn Marriott
and the Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn
are all priced similarly (I would go for the Holiday Inn Express jacuzzi room to get the most bang for my buck) and are fairly close to all of the great nabes in Brooklyn.
you could catch a show at BAM, have dinner on either 5th Ave, Court St. or Smith St. (there are too many good restaurants to name on these few blocks...but Blue Ribbon sushi is on 5th ave if you want sushi)
there are great brunch spots in the morning. All three hotels are fairly new (the Holiday Inn being the newest).
they are all pretty accessible by train and taxi from the LIRR flatbush ave station. (I would taxi it at least at night to all three places. you can get lost easily LOL)
anyway, it's just a suggestion for an alternative fun hip night in the city.
have fun and congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh wow, I didn't even THINK of Brooklyn...this is awesome. We were doing Nobu only because the food is such a delicious splurge, but I would love a great Italian place as well and somewhere to go for drinks afterwards, any suggestions.

Al Di La on 5th ave and Garfield is delicious (or was last time I went). It's pricey, romantic and the food is worth it. and it's a few blocks walk from the Holiday Inn. there's also Trattoria Mulino (133 5th ave) which is good and a bit less $$ than Al Di La. we had our rehearsal dinner there.
to have a drink and chill, there's Southpaw , laid back, cool, live music. Loki is also nice to chill and have a few.200 Fifth is always jumpin on the weekends too.
honestly, there are so many bars on 5th ave now that it's hard to keep track (and I've lived in the area my entire life)
for a nice dessert, there's one of my fav's the Chocolate Room tiny space but everything is YUM.
Miriam is a great place for brunch in the morning.
all of these places are within 10 blocks of each other I would say (though maybe not b/c I suck at directions LOL)
anywho, good luck in your search.
