spinoff to hosptial bag

I thought I was going to pack two bags... one for just labor, and then one for the hospital stay that we could leave in the car until we are in the room adn things settle down.

DH said just pack one big bag....

What do you think?

ALSO, do we need to pack any outfits for Baby during the hosptial stay, or does the hospital provide onesies, etc?

i only packed one bag with all my stuff in it. if you forget anything or need anything extra dh can always bring it later.

i also packed just a take home outfit for DD. the hospital will provide everything you need while you are there.

Re: spinoff to hosptial bag

I packed a bag, but didnt use any of the stuff. I went in on Sat morning delievered sat night and went home monday morning, Vaginal birth. The nurses told me i couldnt shower b/c they wanted me to wait an extra day, then it was monday so figured might as well just shower at home.

Baby i just kept her in hopsital stuff, b/c i was told if i put an outfit on her and she went back to nursery they would change her and no guarantee i would get her cloths back. I just had my DH bring up her going home outfit the day we were taking her home.

No offense to anyone, but the labor bag is a joke. You really don't have any time or want to be bothered with getting labor stuff. It's my personal opinion. Pack one bag, your essentials for an overnight stay or two and a going home outfit for yourself. Bring boppy, nursing cream, 3 outfits for baby including the coming home outfit and receiving blankets along with another watm blanket and hats. the hospital provides diapers, formula, tops, hat and receiving blankets but you leave with your own stuff. I always put clothes on both DD's when staying in the hospital and i wasn't alone a lot fo people do. Just something to think about.

Re: spinoff to hosptial bag

I packed 2 bags. The L&D one has extra space in it too, so I can use it for taking home stuff I get from the hospital too.

I am only bringing stuff for the baby to wear home. I don't want to worry that I won't get clothes back and such, so I think what they provide is fine.
