Out of control jumping
My dog is the best dog ever when we are home alone with her but when people come over she gets so excited she doesn't know what to do with herself. She jumps all over them & I feel so embarassed and bad. She ends up scratching them on accident. She loves to be around people but her behavior makes me not want people over. I have tried a million things. Spray bottle, coins in a can, putting her on her leash when people come in, etc. Nothing has helped. I am due to give birth soon & we will be having lots of people over. I am very worried. Any advice? I'm desperate

Re: Out of control jumping
I have this problem with my pug. What we did is instead of getting him to try and stop jumping is we would practise haveing "company." When the door bell would ring, we would put him in a "sit...stay" We would reward him for the sit/stay. Next time we'd do a sit/stay and open the door. He would get rewarded for holding the pose. Then the next time we would open the door....etc eventually we had him hold it until people were in the house and seated. At that point the excitement was over and he stopped jumping. It took about a month of practising 1 - 2 times a day to have it become habit.
Good Luck
