WOW I think this is a bit much
but what can you do...DH neice just got engaged..her engagement party is in a month or so..then her shower 2months later..... then her wedding in the fall all in the matter of 7months!

Her Epart, Shower, and Wedding are all w/in the same year? That's a bit excessive - not the shower & wedding, but the Eparty - what's the point!?!?!?! I always though EParties were for a couple with a longer engagement...over a year.
Friends of ours were the same - and to top it off, DH was in the BP...so throw in the B.Party, and she got preggers too!

I got that beat. I have an engagement party March 23, a wedding July 3 and i'm sure a shower will be planned sometime in between.

I don't think there should be an e-party unless the engagement is longer than a year. We had a 2 yr engagement and still didn't have one because I didn't want people to think that all we wanted were a million gifts !

That is a bit much. I know a lot of people have engagement parties but I always thought they were a bit much to begin with.

A wedding invitation is like a bill but atleast you get fed and watered.
The e party is a bit too much. Even for long engagements I don't like them.

Maybe they aren't expecting gifts at the engagement party? Are they registered?
Or maybe a certain family member insits that it's tradition or something.

I don't think it's a big deal
I would gift a give for each ocassion regardless of time inbetween
maybe she doesn't want to miss out on something just b/c she is getting married quicker then the average
it should be a happy, fun time!

I agree.
In our family, someone is always having a party for something. No one complains about it, because we love to party! So why not!

I don't see why it's a big deal-they might not even be expecting gifts at the engagment party. They might just want to celebrate and let the families meet each other.
