Capital One Rant

I have a car loan that is in my name and my sister is the co-signer. It's her car. She pays the bills. The loan was switched from North Fork Bank to Capital One when they bought them. Last night I get a notice that a change posted to my credit report. Well, it's Capital One saying the account is 30 days past due. Sister says she was late, but paid them. I call them and question why I'm not receiving correspondence and ask how they can post to my credit report without notifying me of the problem with the account. They tell me sending statements and making phone calls is a COURTESY and they don't need to. North Fork used to send me notifications; Capital One doesn't. They say they send statements to my sister and that's all they need to do. If I want, I can change the address to mine, but they don't need to notify me. They refuse to remove it from my credit report. And I talked to the manager and got the same response.

That's what I get for helping my sister out a few years back. Now I'm making her refinance the loan in her own name. So PO'ed! I don't understand how they don't need to notify me of problems with MY account.

try sending them a goodwill letter, then dispute it with the credit companies

Here is what I did....

When they switched banks they sent out a letter telling you about the switch and to make your payments to this new address....

I never changed the address on my automatic bill pay b/c I had just had a baby and was sleep deprived...

The payment went out and basically got lost for a couple of weeks...

I never knew until it popped up on my report.

I disputed the posting on my report to the reporting agency. I told them what happened and sent them a copy of the letter NorthFork had sent me..

It was removed from my report..
