More American Idol Controversy!!!
A Los Angeles Times blog says that David Cook's rendition of Lionel Richie's hello has been performed by Incubus at Lollapalooza since 2003!!!
Very similiar situation to when Chris Daughtry performed Live's version of "Walk the Line" ...
David Cook is not one of my favorites, but his performance last night is one of my favorites from the season so far!
Thoughts?
ETA: I think he should have said it's Incubus version and nobody would be talking about it today!!

Doesn't bother me. Most of the performacnces seem to be carbon copies of the original songs / artists.

Ditto. It was cool and different, I don't care if he didn't arrange it himself.

I love David Cook!! He was my fav. last night too.....I could care less if he got the idea from Incubus. He was standing up there getting compliments from the judges, they weren't asking "hey where'd you get that idea?", then it would be different if they did and he answered, "I came up w/ it", then he'd be lying. who cares.....helloooooo we have a guy on the show who was a stripper at a gay bar, and we're going to focus on David Cook??

That's disappointing...I think the judges truly believed he was creative in coming up with it. He should have owned up to it then.

The same thing happened with Chris Daughtry when he did the Chilli Peppers version of Stevie Wonders' "Higher Ground." All three of the judges were gaga over it and gave him kudo's for originality. Sometimes I wonder if the judges know anything other than top 40 music.

David Hernandez - I haven't seen it but supposedly there's a video circulating....
Well I never got the impression that David Cook took the credit for the arrangment...but he really rocked. I loooove the sound of his voice. He's not the cutest (Jason) or sexiest (Michael) but I love his voice the most! He does look sorta dorky...but I'll let that slide cuz he sounds awesome and I love that he plays the guitar!
