Ok we know not to BUY from a puppy mill...
How about rescuing a dog that was once in a puppy mill and is now in the hands of a rescue organization?

As long as you are ready for the potential issues of a former mill dog, then, yes. The rescue organization should be able to help you figure out what those issues may be.
That is a wonderful way to adopt a pet.

ITA with the AP. It is a great thing to adopt a pup from a rescue.

I support a few Puppy Mill rescue groups. The only way for these organisations to continue to be able to save PM dogs is for them to be able to home the already-rescued dogs.
I think it is a great thing, but I also think that you may need to educate yourself a little about the unique problems that come with rescuing a mill dog.
FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Ok we know not to BUY from a puppy mill...
My husband did this once...there was a pet store in my neighborhood that sold puppies from Puppy Mills and one time it had a Boxer puppy there...the puppy must have been there for about 3 months. Being a Boxer owner himself, my husband couldn't take it anymore and bought the puppy himself! Ok, besides the fact that I wanted to KILL HIM bc we already had a Boxer, we tried to make it work for a few days but it just got worst. My dog just wouldn't have this little thing around her...the little puppy would want to cuddle with her and she wouldn't have it. ANYWAY, we called Boxer Rescue and they found the puppy a wonderful home upstate NY. A nice family with children and a huge property. Although it was tough at first, I'm glad my husband rescued that little puppy.

It's definitely a great thing to do but beware that you may have a dog with many issues. Our Bella is a puppy mill rescue and she has A LOT of issues. Feel free to FM.
