In countries outside the US...
is it common to wear the exact same outfit two days in a row?
i was in a 3-day conference with some people who had traveled from Europe. i noticed that one man wore his exact same outfit two days in a row (yes, i notice these things ) this was a business-casual environment.
is that fairly common?

I don't know, but there is a Middle Eastern man who sits near me and wears the same thing all week long - EVERY WEEK!

maybe he just didn't bring that many clothes with him-- didn't want to check a bag?

Re: In countries outside the US...
yes, in many countries it is, or at least that is my experience with my family in Europe and how I was rasied.... or more accurately, I would say they may not wear the same outfit the next day in a row, but clothes are worn more than once and then washed. they don't do the copius amounts of laundry Americans do.

Plus it being a guy, i guess he feels its no biggie for him to wear the same cloths.. makes ya wonder if he at least changed his undies.

Re: In countries outside the US...
i know for my family in italy they wear their clothes a few times before washing but not really two days in a row
when they get home from work/school they change right away into a "home outfit" - still not sweats but something more comfortable and they wear THAT outfit all week long

YES! I had a Spanish exchange student for about 2 weeks. The girl (who was quite well off) thought nothing of wearing the same outfit 2x in a row.

I know in Italy it was common - at least when I was there.
eta. my exchange student wore this dress EVERY DAY in high school. We still refer to the pattern of her dress as "an Orietta coat". Lots of flack...sigh..Finally I said "It's cold. You NEED to wear pants today."

My family in Europe would definitely wear casual clothes 2 days in a row.

Re: In countries outside the US...
I wouldn't say it was common, but if you were travelling and could only bring one suit, you probably would *have* to wear it more than once.
Also, don't forget many people outside of North America don't have laundry facilities in their houses. Most people here in the UK don't have tumble dryers, I am one of the only one of my friends that have one. Most people dry their clothes on the radiators or on a clothes horse.

Same experience here.
The one person I knew who wore one outfit each week for five days in a row was American!

Re: In countries outside the US...
Gosh, I wouldn't even notice if someone wore the same thing two days in a row, and I'm sure I've done it before, too.
When I travel for business, I try to pack lightly. I had to wear a suit 5 days a week on my last (2-week) business trip. I sure didn't pack 10 suits. I think I only brought 4. My colleagues did the same.
I don't really think it's a big deal as long as the person and the clothes are clean and don't smell...

ITA- I mean- unless you are sweating copiously there is really no need to wash or dry clean a suit EVERY single time you wear it....
