Spinoff to the men at showers...

Ok- I don't mind the "Main Men" coming to a shower- The dads, the grandparents, maybe even the godparents. But as soon as i said this, my mother called me to inform me that........


Her girlfriend is bring her ex husband (they're very Italian- the ex's in this family never ever really leave- they just remove rings and call it a day) AND her daughter, my girfriend since we were in the womb, is insisting on bringing HER boyfriend.

So now apparently we have a Jack N Jill shower in the making. It puts my poor mom in an awkward spot because she wasn't really given the opportunity to protest. She had said to her girlfriend that my father and my DH were going to be staying to see people since we all now live in Mass and we don't get the opportunity to see everyone very often. The girlfriend saw this as an opportunity to extend the invite to her "men" too. I think it's wrong but there's nothing that can be done now. It's just upsetting to my mom because she's hosting and we already have over 60 people coming.

Ugh..

Can you set up a "men hang out?" Someone who lives close by can host, have food and drinks so that the men can stay near but not attend?
This is what I'm doing.

it's a little rude for a guest to invite someone along to a party

I second for having a "men area" for them to hang out. That's a great idea.

While my shower was going on, my DH had about 10 guys back at the house and they played cards.
