I would go for it. You might want to look for the sort of upscale-ish specialty slices of fresh ham instead of coldcuts though. They would probably be over by the packaged meats.

Re: I am dying for a ham and cheese

Same here -- my favorite is a grilled ham and swiss and I've been dying for it.

My DH and I finally broke down and went to the diner the other day. I ordered a grilled swiss with bacon instead. Pretty good, but definitely worse for me. But, it will have to do if I get a craving.

I wonder if it matters whether the ham is cooked?

Re: I am dying for a ham and cheese

Go for it! But if you're really worried about deli cold cuts, my doctor said that the packaged kind are 100% fine. Hillshire Farms makes a thin-sliced kind that tastes just like deli cold cuts...it's packaged in GLAD tupperware containers and you'll usually find it near the bacon at the supermarket.

Re: I am dying for a ham and cheese

You can eat cold cuts.
I would just make sure that they are from a decent place (clean)
and just don't eat it everyday.

But I ate cold cuts throughout my entire pregnancy

You could slather your husband's asss in mayo and throw ham slices at it. That may satisfy the craving. Does for me.

Re: I am dying for a ham and cheese

The danger with cold cuts is Listeria. Make sure you heat it in the microwave 20-30 secs on high until steaming. This will kill any bacteria. Then put it in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it back off.

"Moderation" doesn't really apply to cold cuts. It only takes one time to hurt your baby if you eat cold cuts that have the bacteria! Make sure you heat it!!!
