I think you would have to set up remote access... your work e-mail is on the server at work... you'd have to login to the server in order to gain access to your e-mail from home.... I think.

Exactly. Unfortunately, it's a huge PITA b/c you are able to check your new mail and send outgoing mail, but both mailboxes will not sync up...

Re: Is there a way to have my work Outlook...
In your settings in Outlook there is an option to "Leave a copy of messages on the server". You want to make sure that is checked off because Outlook usually removes the messages from the server when downloading.
Then, as the above poster mentioned, you would probably need to get web access to the emails on the server.
HTH!

Re: Is there a way to have my work Outlook...
microsoft outlook has webmail (i think in most cases)
use a URL that would be "webmail.xxxxx.com"
replace the "xxxxx" with whatever follows the @ in your email
so if your email was [email protected], then use "webmail.longisland.com" as the URL. log in with same login/pw as your Outlook.
hope this works for you!

DH has his work mail in his home outlook. It is quite simple, just ask the IT dept at your office for the info you need.

It depends what type of mail account you have.
You could use POP, native exchange or Imap, etc. If you have an exchange server, your IT team may have enabled OWA (outlook web access) but this is an optional component.
For other protocols it depends on firewall rules if you can access the mail from other locations.

Definitely check with your IT department. There are so many variables that it can't possibly be answered here. At my company, we have a secure website that we log into to get to our email. Not everyone has that. Some places, you can connect directly to the Exchange server with just your username and password. Other places have no outside access.

You could also log onto your whole computer from home. I think (it's been a while) it's PCanywhere. Their is a fee but I think it is something like $35 for 3 months. You would log onto their website and then it would bring you to your desktop and what ever work you would do at home it would save it at your office.

Again, it depends on the IT department. We have tons of security and firewalls, so that won't work. I've done that for other companies, though. There are several free versions of tools out there as well that work just as well. We use a free tool internally that does that, so I don't have to walk to someone's desk to fix something. Very handy tool.

It may have something to do with your setup then, because I have remote access and my Outlook syncs up just fine.
The IT dept has to set this all up tho.

Re: Is there a way to have my work Outlook...
I've used PC Anywhere and it was so unreliable.
I have been using www.gotomypc.com for 4 years with not one issue and they have great support with a real person if you need it.
You can log in remotely from home or anywhere and see your entire work PC. You can then print to the office or to home printers and transfer files back and forth as well. Its how I've been able to work from home.

Your right it was gotomypc. When I worked, everyone in the office had it and it worked really well. Your bosses might even find it useful if they are on vacation and want to check things.
