Re: Bxgell2...
No way! I watched and didn't realize it was an LIFer.
I have to admit, I stopped watching when the paint color was revealed. Your DH cracked me up. "Check, please."
Now I'll have to finish watching! I'm sure it turned out lovely in the end.

Amazingly enough, we kept the color. It's ok, as long as you keep the lights dimmed But, we DID make some changes to the layout - we pulled out the sink they gave us, sold it on craigslist for a bundle of $$,and installed a double sink instead, and moved the toilet over to the other wall, next to the shower. You can see the pics in my album
I think HGTV needs a new show called "where are they now" - go back to people who have been on these shows to find out what changes they've made to the renovations they were given!

I DVR'd it after I saw this post - and only was able to watch half of it this morning. Beth you look great - and Alex looks so little! Can't wait to see how the bathroom turns out!
I don't want to cheat and look at the pics in your album just yet!

I saw it too - you guys are so cute!
I'm always so curious about these shows - how did you guys get on? Did you have any input in the design?
(I looked in your album - your revised layout makes so much more sense!)

I have a friend who worked for the production company- when we bought the house I sent the pics of everything to my friends and when she saw it, she told me to apply for the show. It's an easy, online application, so I did it, and a few weeks later they called me back and scouted the house, and then let us know we were chosen.
Technically we aren't supposed to have ANY input on the design. But, about 3 weeks before they were supposed to start demolition I told them that I wouldn't let them into the house unless they could promise me they would tear down the wall between the bathroom and closet area - otherwise it would have been a waste of money for us. They assured me they would, but other than that, we had no input, other than to say in the application, and the scout video, what kind of design we would like.
They basically gave us everything we asked for except the double sink. And, well, I made the mistake of asking for a "cottage" bathroom - I meant "NEW ENGLAND cottage". They interpreted it as "Coral Gables cottage" I pay for that mistake every morning when I wake up, walk into my bathroom and am greeted by coral walls

i have to say, i like the coral... it might take some getting used to but for me, instead of a "cottage" theme i am getting more of a carribean/key west vibe, which is very cool as well.

Yeah, that's definitely what they were going for - they totally wanted the shock value of the coral walls for TV purposes. We saw EVERYTHING they were going to put into the bathroom way in advance because they deliver it to the house weeks in advance, so there really was no suprise there (yeah, that whole scene with me "shopping" for a tub with Krista - BS - the tub had been sitting in my garage for 6 weeks when we taped that scene ), but we had NO clue what the colors would be - so our reactions are totally genuine

OMG!!! I TOTALLY forgot it was airing again last night!!
Thanks everyone! Just remember that show was taped over a year ago. My "hotness" has depleted significantly over the year, and Alex is double the size now!
These are the next air dates for the show, for anyone who missed it and still has a burning desire to see us make idiots of ourselves on national TV :
February 26, 2008 12:30 AM ET/PT March 22, 2008 1:00 PM ET/PT April 05, 2008 1:00 PM ET/PT
Damn I missed it again!.... Glad to see that there are more dates.

i have to say - i don't know your tastes but the whole time i was like, "pick the overflow tub!" b/c that's what i want in my bathroom eventually. $9,000? psht. pennies.

Re: Bxgell2...
Yes, well, as the producers told me, I'm a natural born actress (I wonder where Alex gets it from?? )
That overflow tub is INSANE! When they stopped the taping, I tried to step into the thing and I couldn't even reach up into it!

It's so funny when I watched it I said to myself with all that room they couldn't put a double sink? Much better the way you remodeled it after they were done!
