UPDATED... I went to the dealership. Anyone actually get out of a lease 1 year early?
UPDATE at bottom.

I'm already itching for a new car but I have another year on my lease. I don't need the 4x4 grand cherokee anymore since i'm in FL so it's stupid to be paying so much for this truck.
I just thought i'd ask b/c i'm curious... have you gotten out of your lease a year early? Are there penalties?
Will they even talk to me knowing I have a year left on my current lease? I'll be getting another Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge, but from a different dealership since i'm in FL now.

I did- but I had problems with the car and I had to upgrade-
it's always worth a try

If you're staying in the jeep/chrysler family you stand a better chance.

Re: Anyone actually get out of a lease 1 year early?
we ended our lease about 9 months early but we knew we would be over on the miles and had some maintenace coming up that would have cost us more than 4 thousand dollars.
We had the dealer of the new car buy out our old car like a trade in and we paid the difference between the buy out and the purchace price from the lease
if you call the leasing company you can get a 10 day buy out to buy the car now

we tried to get out of our liberty lease early (about 5 mo early) and the only way we could without paying what we owed, plus any mileage/wears would be to go into another lease or an higher grade vehicle.
You can turn in your lease at any dealer.

I got out of my last lease early, which was a Liberty. They wrote off my last 3 months of payments AND my over miles... but I leased a more expensive truck (the grand cherokee).
Since I want to go to a lower priced truck or car, i'm not sure what they are going to do for me. But, we'll see tonight!

Yeah that is what they wanted us to do too. There was no option to go to a lower car.
Good luck!!!!

Re: Anyone actually get out of a lease 1 year early?
UPDATE:
So, I went. They were willing to let me out early, but i'd have to put the rest of what I owe now into the new lease. The best they could do on leasing an '08 liberty for 36 months + the rest of what I owe on my lease added into the payments is $509/month. Needless to say, I walked out and will go back in a year.
