Murder on L.I- Nassau

A sick mother took the lives of her children, this makes me very sad. This sick woman had 3, I hope to God none of them saw her murder thier siblings..

I heard the story this morning on the news, it's terribly sad.  There must have been something wrong with her mental status, the neighbors all said they were worried about the kids and CPS had tried to intervene.
Unfortunately now it's too late.

3 children found dead in New Cassel; mother charged
(02/25/08) NEW CASSEL (AP) - Police responding to a domestic emergency call in New Cassel, Long Island found three small children dead in a bed. Their mother - Leatrice Brewer - has been charged with multiple counts of murder.
Nassau County police say officers were met at the two-story home by a woman who directed them to a top-floor apartment, where they found the children - a six year old girl, and two boys - ages five and one.
The 27-year-old single mother wasn't home but was found later.
The county medical examiner's office was trying to determine the causes of the children's deaths. Neighbors say Brewer, who cared for the children alone, had been overwhelmed. One neighbor, Cornisha Robinson, said she saw her last week pushing an empty stroller and wondered where the children were. Robinson says the children were left in the house by themselves all the time.
But relatives and friends said Brewer loved the children. Brewer was taken to a hospital for evaluation and will be arraigned Monday.

From what they said on the news CPS was called numerous times, but they never found a "reason" to declare the children were in danger.
The father of the 2 younger kids had a court appointment TODAY to try and get custody of them. And the father of the older one was also trying to get custody. Because they knew she was ill.
Terrible story. From the sounds of it, the system failed those children miserably.
