They didn't say much - just that an offer was presented and the union workers pretty much just got up and walked out of the building, headed for Union Hall.
ETA: Good luck to anyone directly affected by this tomorrow and the rest of the week. I'm sure everyone will feel it in some sense, but especially those who actually ride the MTA buses and trains.

What a mess... no one really knows ANYTHING!
I feel bad for the commuter college kids - finals are this week, and they're already stressed! One of the nurses in the ICU with Grandpa said that her son commutes to NYU and has a 9am exam tomorrow. She was going to drive him in tonight, and he was going to sleep in the library! (they have 24 hr study hours during finals)

Ok, thats just nutty!! I know these people need money (who doesnt) but people need to get to work and around to shop (my personal favorite) NO STRIKE

There are also issues concerning paying into their pension plan and a small percentage of their medical plan.

I think the big issues are the Pension and that they want the retirement age to be dropped to 50 and the MTA wants to raise it to 62. I'm still hoping for a last minute play by the Governor.

I think the MTA agreed to 55 as the retirement age and new transit employees will have to contribute 6% of their salary to their pension plans for the first 10 years.

just got a call from our manager letting me know that he is picking up some girls that live in lower Brooklyn, so for today I am staying at home... we will see tomorrow...
all I can say, I can understand wanting more money and whatever they are asking for, but in the meantime the rest of us are losing money and they are turning our lives up-side-down...
