whats the best to apply foundation?

a make-up artist told me that sponges are not good to use cuz you use so much foundation , the sponges really soak up the liquid. sometimes i use a foundation brush. the other day at the MAC counter the girl told me to use a fluffy blush brush for applying liquid she said that the color goes on better and gives you a little sheerer coverage. i tried it and it worked great! this is the foundation brush that i use from clinique.
