Possible to train an adult cat?

Our cat is 8, he still jumps on stuff, and won't behave.

I do not know how to get him to stop--its our fault becuase we never "trained" him, but I need him to learnChat Icon

Any suggestions?Chat Icon

Well - I'm having trouble training our kitten.

But... my mom was able to train 2 cats really well, and we got one as an adult.

She used a water bottle and a can full of coins. She shook it every time they did something wrong. It worked.

Good Luck!

water bottle does work. We never trained ours either. The jumper has since passed but the other scratches and we spray him.

It's very hard to train cats.

I think so. Mine are that age and I can't train them.

Re: Possible to train an adult cat?

We just took in an adult cat.
She's pretty good for the most part, but she likes to jump on the table and the counter.
We use a spray bottle, which gets her off for the moment, but I don't think she'll really learn.

Try orange scented cleaners and such..I started cleaning with citrus cleaners when we got Chilly she learned from the begining.
The water and coin can jingle never worked so I switched to orange, citus scents and cleaners and it worked!!
