When do your OB visits increase...

... in frequency?

At my last appt (24 weeks), my OB said to schedule my next appointment at 28 weeks, and from then on out they would be every 2 weeks until my last month.

Is this what everyone's does? Even if everything is progressing fine?

Yep, at 28 weeks, I go every 2 weeks and then she said every week for the last month.

I was gonna ask the same question. I just had an appointment yesterday (they had no appointments for 28 weeks). I'm 30 weeks and she told me to come back in 4 weeks and then after that it would be every 2 weeks. I thought it didn't sound right? I was actually thinking of changing doctors since my doctor left for maternity leave and isn't coming back and I'm not crazy about the doctor i have been seeing.

The original doctor i was seeing told me at 32 weeks we would do another sonogram and this one told me no. Should I be concerned? (sorry to ride off your post) Chat Icon

Re: When do your OB visits increase...

At 32 weeks I started going every 2 weeks. I am not sure when I start going weekly- maybe after next appt.

I don't think you need to be concerned about the sonogram - I haven't had one since my 20 week. My doctor doesn't do them after that unless there is concern due to size or position.

I would, however, call to ask why you won't be seen again for 4 weeks. Maybe the doctor just made a mistake in scheduling? Starting at 28 weeks, I was seen every 2 weeks and then starting at 36 it will be weekly. Doesn't hurt to call just to ask what their policy is. I am sure it varies by practice.

Re: When do your OB visits increase...

I think it depends on your doctor. My next monthly visit at the end of Feb is at 32w, then I go twice in March, then every week in April until I deliver.

I think it was about 28 weeks that I started every 2 weeks.

Now at 34 weeks I go every week.
