I have a question...

Who are you getting "gifts from the baby" for?

I've seen a couple of similar posts - gifts to DH "from the baby", to MIL, to DW, etc. No offense to anyone, but I don't quite get this. Obviously, the baby is not the one going to the store and buying the gift, and the baby is not yet old enough to pick it out (like say a toddler might be able to), so...how is this really a gift from the baby? Is it the idea that the baby will one day pick out gifts for these people, or maybe it's a tradition? Just wondering... we've never done this in my family...

I got a couple of "Daddy and Me" kids books "from" Katherine to my DH, but I know what you mean...

One Christmas, my sister was deciding what to get her DH and she said, "Well, I can't do the gift certificate for the tattoo, because that's what the baby is getting him." I was like, ***, I think he knows it's really from you!!!!!!!!!

I don't buy any gifts for anyone for the holidays from my kids -even when they were babies. I think I'm in the minority though.

I was also the one who signs Father's Day cards from the kids by tracing their hands & writing in their names or for baby gifts would put their footprint on it.

When they were younger, I would make something like a plaster ornament with their footprint or handprint in it for their grandparents.

The grandparents, daddy AND godparents get gifts from baby.

gifts from the baby were for...DH, grandparents, aunts and uncles....

However...other than DH...the others are only getting an ornament...that says Aunt...uncle... grandma...etc..(made by shana ) and thats it....

I just think its something special for its everyones first christmas being a Dad, Aunt, uncle, grandma etc...
