Ebay

Has anyone bid on an item, won the item, and then have doubts about the authenticity of the item and not want to pay. I won an item and now people are posting that they are not real. What should I do?

Re: Ebay

Before I bid on anything on ebay I see what kind of record the seller has.

What did you win?

Re: Ebay

I found this off the website:

I won an item but no longer want to purchase it. What should I do?

A bid or Buy It Now purchase on eBay is considered a contract and you are obligated to purchase the item.

However, mistakes sometimes happen, and many sellers are willing to work with you if you communicate with them openly and honestly. If you have not done so already, you may want to request the seller's contact information and give the seller a call. Let the seller know your situation, and see if you can work things out to everyone's satisfaction.

If the seller does not respond in the way you hope, keep in mind that failing to purchase an item you have won may result in negative feedback, as well as an unpaid item strike against your account. Too many unpaid item strikes in too short a period may result in permanent suspension of your eBay account.

isn't there a policy about claiming things as 'authentic'? Chat Icon

did he represent these shirts as 'authentic' polo shirts? (as in Ralph Lauren)

Yes he claimed they are aunthentic, i can pull threads off. they look detective up close. YUCK. Should I wait till he emails me back or go ahead and report him, the colors and polo players are totally off compared to ralphlauren.com.

then i think you have every right to send them right back and get your $$ refunded. Chat Icon

print out where he claimed they're authenic.
wait until he emails you and see what his action will be. if he doesn't refund every penny, then i'd report him and file a complaint.
good luck! Chat Icon

Great advice!!! My DH has bought lots of things on e-bay and had this issue. He did exactly what msma88 suggested and it all worked out.

The guy emailed me back, said that the shirts are produced for the non US market, what kind of crap is that. And that I can return them minus the shipping.

I emailed him back telling him they are China town quality fake and I want the shipping. And that he shouldn't mislead people.

Should I report him or wait to see if he replies back.

report him. no way should you pony up shipping costs for something you would have NEVER ordered in the first place had it been presented honestly! Chat Icon

When I was a kid and we lived on military bases, a lot of kids whose dad's were serving a year remote in Korea or other countries would have factory castoff designer clothes from Ralph Lauren. They were the wrong color, the ponies only had 2 or 3 legs, etc. They were really cheap to buy. Maybe that's what these are. He should have put that in the description.

Re: Ebay

It gets even better he says he won't pay me back for shipping but I can get free shipping in the future. What is he on crack? So I emailed him back saying if I don't get it back I will report him and leave negative feedback.

These buyers should not get away with this crap.

Re: Ebay

If he claimed the sirt was authentic and it's actually not, then he's in breach of your "contract" and MUST reimburse you.
