Spinoff to weight gain
To those of you who had a baby already and if you gained more than 30 pounds, did you wind up with a c-section? I know there have been studies done saying that women who gain a lot of weight are more likely to have c-sections. Although that was not the case with me because I only gained about 20 pounds and I had to have a c-section because the baby's heart rate dropped.
I'm just wondering if there might be any truth to the study that was done...

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
I gained over 60 and had a c-section.
It was scheduled, the baby was measuring large and never dropped.
My dr always threatened me that if I did not lose weight I would wind up having one.

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
I gained 50 pounds and had my son no problem. No epideral and only three small stitches that I didn't feel. My son was 7 pounds 12 onces but he was three weeks early.
I hope that makes you feel a little better. Of course that doesn't mean that I won't have a c-section this time. As I have found out - every pregnancy is different.

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
Gained 62 pounds, ds was ten days early, I was induced because the baby was large, it failed....he had been measuring large and the funny thing is I had placenta previa until about 32 weeks and was convinced I would end up with c section but then everything went away and they said no more need for a c section----that was until they figured out that the baby was getting so big he would have been over 12 pounds had I went to term....he was born 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
I gained 43 pounds and did not need a c-section. I wasn't overweight to begin with-I don't know if maybe that has something to do with it sometimes?

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
Wow so I guess based on the responses here that what I read was wrong. I'm not concerned about my weight gain because at 25 weeks I am happy to say that I have not gained any weight yet. I lost close to 10 pounds in the first trimester and I've been slowly putting it back on now. So they estimate that I'm only going to gain about 15 pounds in this pregnancy. And since I already had a c-section I might wind up choosing to have another one. But we'll see what my doctor says.
I was just curious as to people's experience with the weight gain and c-sections.

No weight gain at 25 weeks? Your Dr. is Okay with this? I have the opposite issue, 25 weeks and twenty pounds. Working out and eating the same as usual, just packing it on.

Re: Spinoff to weight gain
Gained about 50 lbs with DD and no c-section. I was average weight before, definitely not skinny but not heavy either.
With DC#2 I didn't gain much weight until my 24th week, that was an 8 lb month My OB did say she was getting concerned with me not gaining weight, but she was happy to see I had big month.

I remember reading your birth story, and seriously your tolerance of pain is amazing!!!
