We are obsessed with this game.
Whenever our friends and I get together we play. For HOURS.
We are more Cities and Knights people though. We felt we needed to complicate it further.

We stake our claims with both the game pieces, AND the numbers flipped over.....
Makes for lots of tantrums

I am seriously cut throat when it comes to Catan.
The Deserter card has almost broken up some friendships.

The worst part is that there are three of us who are hard core into it and the fourth person always gets tired about half way in and starts making stupid trades just to move the game along.
Makes me mad.

Ugh.... my dad does that shite~ but he just does it to piss everyone off. He'll just keep building roads onto others different settlements. No rhyme or reason- just to get the "longest road" card.

I play often. DH and I LOOOOVE that game and our friends do as well.
I do the wheat and ore strategy, which works well for me. Winning is the best feeling!
Don't you have to pay for the online game. I have done the free trial, but then they make you pay after that.
I agree it can get really nasty. In fact, we had a fight (and no longer speak to this person) with DHs friend b/c of this game. He started crying b/c I wouldn't trade with him. Of course there were other issues, but come on this guy was 25 years old crying?
