Are you worried about lead paint in toys?
At my shower I got a bunch of teethers and rattles that are all made in China. I'm not so concerned about bigger items. But, with all the recalls due to lead paint on toys I'm a little worried about something that my baby is supposed to put in their mouth.
When we registered for pacifiers we picked Nuk because they are made in Germany and most of the others said Made in China. But is Germany any better?
Does anyone know of a list of companies that are safe or where to find out if products were tested for lead paint?

I know there is a lead testing stick thing you can buy at Home Depot.
ETA- I can relate to this because my only prerequesite for a crib was that it NOT be made ion China. But when walking down the random rattles and toys aisle, I was shocked ot see that they are ALL made in China.

Re: Are you worried about lead paint in toys?
I hate to admit it, I'd never buy a teether made in china.... Germany or any other EU country, or of course the US, would be much more trustworthy IMO....
the recalls are appearing faster than anyone can keep track.....
I should add, the real problem is that lead is only one of thousands of chemicals that would be really bad in these items.... there's no way to be clairvoyant and predict what could contain something toxic.

Re: Are you worried about lead paint in toys?
it's easy to search for toys made in western countries....
here's an EU toy site: EU teethers
strangely, it's much harder to find baby toys made in the USA. the only teethers I found are 'organic' and made out of unpainted wood....
