Which cereal
is usually given first? And did anyone start their baby on cereal before getting the OK from the Dr?
Logan started to get better at sleeping but now he seems to have regressed a little. He is again up every 3 - 3.5 hours or so through the night. When he wakes up he is very hungry. Before bed I BF and give him some formula as well (although he usually doesn't take much formula). My mom (and everyone else) keep insisting he needs to start cereal. He will be 4 months on the 29th .

Re: Which cereal
I waited until I got the okay from the Ped at 4 months to start on cereal. While most peds recommend a rice cereal, ours told us to start right away with oatmeal, not rice. So we did.
I honestly don't think cereal is going to help him sleep through the night though.

Re: Which cereal
I started my son on Rice cereal at about 3 months because he was wanting a bottle every 2 hours. Rice cereal constipated him so I switched to oatmeal.
Go with your gut, if your baby is hungry give him a tablespoon of cereal, dont worry its not going to hurt him

Re: Which cereal
I started marissa on cereal at 3 months. I would give it to her right before her bottle before she went to sleep and it helped her sleep through out the nite. I did it beforet he doctor gave me the ok as well ETA: I started my DD on rice

Re: Which cereal
I started Nate on rice cereal first. They say it's supposed to be the easiest on their stomachs.
I gave him cereal 2 or 3 nights when he was 2.5 months old to see if he would sleep better and it didn't. I waited to continue with it at 4 months when I got the OK from the doctor.

Re: Which cereal
I started cereal at 3.5 months per dr recommendation since he was drinking so much formula (more than the dr wanted him too) and if I lowered it he started waking up at night hungry (he had started sleeping thru the night at about 11/12 weeks). I know many people who started cereal and they baby started waking up at night more- only because it does take time for their little bellies to get adjusted to the formula.
I started with rice because it is known to have the least amount of allergic reactions and my dr recommended it. It is known to be constipating but my son started to go more.

Re: Which cereal
I started Jared on oatmeal at a month and then switched to barley, which is what he eats now.
