Union people--what can you tell me about Verizon Yellow Pages and Idearc Media?

I advertise in Yellow Pages. Years ago, I had a salesperson who would come sit down with me in my office and we'd plan my advertising. Then Verizon decided to save money on its sales force and I had to deal by phone with a guy in Buffalo who, at first knew nothing of the demographics of my area and could not even pronounce Ronkonkoma. But that guy did his homework and learned what he needed to know and was my sales rep for several years and we got along great.

Then there was a strike or a potential strike among Verizon's sales force. I thought the strike was settled. I later got a letter telling me that The Yellow Pages was becoming a separate business from Verizon, and I'd get a separate bill not connected to my phone bill. The new business is Idearc media. I was assured that this was the only difference.

Well, it is time to renew my ad and I got a voicemail from a new sales rep. I tried to read online about what exactly happened but I am unclear, especially because different things happened in different states. I think I may be dealing with a scab who eventually took my sales rep's job. I don't have a ton of time to look into this but I want to know before renewing my ad.

I know that there are some union folks on here who pay attention to these issues. What do you know? I should just come right out and ask my new rep who he is and where my old rep is, right? I am definitely going to try the phone # that I have for my old rep.

There's an Idearc sales office in East Meadow at 90 Merrick Avenue - 4th floor.

I don't believe the sales force of the Verizon Yellow Pages were ever part of the CWA union but I could be wrong.
