So Weird - What Do You Think Of This?
There is a company that I really want to work for. I've made that very, very clear in all correspondance and had two very successful interviews. They say they'll be making their decision soon.
Well today the CFO calls me. He says that someone told him that I decided to drop out of the running and he wanted to double-check that. W T F? How in the world could that possibly happen??? I've done nothing but say and send emails that literally say 'I would love to work here, etc.' Really genuine, heartfelt messages. So I don't get it.
What do you make of this??? It's a good sign that he called to double-check, right?

I would take it as a good sign, it means they were at least considering you.

ETA: I misread your question!
I do think it's a good sign that he was concerned enough about losing you as a candidate to call you himself

Re: So Weird - What Do You Think Of This?
I think someone that has his ear knows someone else who wants the job...or something along those lines....it might not be personal-I mean they might be trying to sabotage anyone other then thier friend-but I would think something like that is going on...
eta--sorry, I didn't read the question correctly, I think it's a GREAT sign that he called to double check!

Could someone have made that up on purpose? I know that's a terrible thing to think.... but if someone said you were dropping out.... I'd definitely be alert to who could have said that and why
my thoughts exactly!

Re: So Weird - What Do You Think Of This?
It's def a good sign that he personally called to double check with you.
1) It shows that he wants you to work there, or at least you're one of his picks.
2) That the company itself doesn't work "on the fly", that they actually take the time to confirm and get the facts straight form the source.
It does sound like maybe someone was trying to sabotage you but I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought, obviously the CFO is a fan of yours so no worries!!
