OH boy...i just made such a scene at the bank!!!
I went in with only a little time to spare before i had to be back to work. I just needed stamps. So i went to the stamp vending machine, put in a $10 bill and nothing happened. I'm hitting all the buttons, and nothing. So, I get online behind about 15 people (gotta love christmastime at the post office) and after about 15 minutes i get to the front of the line, explained to the teller what happened, and they tell me to get off the line, they will get a supervisor.
The supervisor comes, i explain what happened, and now she starts hitting all the buttons, and nothing. So she brings me near the front and tells me to write down my name and address, she will take the $10 out of her pocket for me, and i wait a few more minutes til she gets back. She hands me the money and i say- but i still need stamps and i have to get back to work. So she said- you need to get back on line..i cant help you! I now look at the line and there must be 20 people on it!!!! I threw a fit !!!!  I said you've got to be f&*KIn kidding me! Un f**$$in believable!!!
I stormed out of there cursing like a madwoman and everyone was staring at me!!!!
And at the end of it all,,....i have no stamps!

I am probably going to be flamed but I don't agree with this I mean at least she gave you the money out of her pocket ... Maybe the getting on line thing is a little redic however Cursing like that at a worker is to me just wrong.

the only thing i said to her was - you've got to be f**in kidding me..this is unbelievable..
everything else i said out loud as i stormed out...I was ******!! I spent my whole lunchtime in there and got nothing but aggravation!

I would just try to get to the post office early tomorrow. Maybe to beat the long lines. Are you out on LI...I know the Hicksville POst office is open till really late.

This is why I never use those stamp machines. I have lost money in them more than once and I figure if I am going to end up waiting on line, then I only want to do it once 
My local supermarket sells stamps and so does costco - I sometimes get them there so I can avoid the P.O. line

I only used credit cards for those stupid machines. I wouldn't want to risk losing the cash. I can see why you got so frustrated. You already had to wait in the line to speak with the supervisor. She couldn't have just grabbed you some stamps and change while she was already there? Yes, I do agree it was nice that she gave the money out of her pocket, but it's not like she won't be reinbursed for it.

I LOVE Commerce Bank! They are open EVERY DAY (including sunday and most holidays) and the one by my apartment is open until MIDNIGHT on Fridays. Plus they give out candy and have a change machine.

That's Great. I didn't know that.
The supervisor is right. He/She wouldn't have been able to help you. They only deal with money matters(like your $$$ on that vending machine issue) or customers' issues (complaining etc).
You could have gone back to the window where they notified the supervisor to see you. If that person was busy, you could have stepped on the side and explain to the people in the line (the first few so they don't think you are trying to cut the line) that you were there before.
Post offices are just a place to stay away during the holiday season. I go usually around 10 or 11am when everyone is at work and there are no lines....or between 3-4pm....works every time.

I just remembered this! You can ask for them at the register when you're checking out and they're sold for the same prices as the post office. I'm not sure which supermarkets sell them, but I know that Stop and Shop and Waldbaum's definitely do.
