I was never a debater in h.s. but please tell me if I am wrong.
When you debate, you are allowed to bring in past experiences to support your debate, right?

I wasn't on debate team or anything, but I think a successful debater should stick to facts -- and know the source of those facts.

I agree. Bringing in personal experiences or hearsay is not going to make a point stronger.
