Motivate me to read please
Now that I am home on leave waiting for the baby to arrive I think I need to start reading about babies and how to care for them. Thing is, I just prefer laying on the couch watching A Baby Story all day. Someone please convince me to read and be more productive! Thanks.

Start watching Bringing Home Baby. That's practically like reading a book on how to care for a baby.

Turn off the tv!
It's not going to help you change diapers, feed, or bath the baby for you!
But if you have a good surround sound system, it'll drown out the crying.

What book are you reading? I'm nervous--I don't know anything about babies and how to take care of them.

Definitely turn off the TV! These shows are interesting, but nothing like reality really--pretty cleaned up overall.
I like What to Expect The First Year (I didn't like What to Expect When You're Expecting in the beginning, but I like this). Another good book to try is The Happiest Baby on the Block, which is about soothing your baby (very good stuff to know)!
You could also read stuff online or in parenting magazines.

Re: Motivate me to read please
You know what...SLEEP IN ANY SPARE TIME THAT YOU HAVE.
I had a month off work before I gave birth, and even now, 2 years on, I am still having sleep regret. I wish I had spent that whole month sleeping! You don't realise how much you love sleep until you have a baby.
So get off that sofa and get into bed!
The learning to take care of a baby stuff is better learned doing it practically!
