Nissian Murano or bigger????

Im looking into leasing a Murano- Any opinions on the car???

It would prob be a 2 or 3 yr lease- so w/in that time I will (god willing) have 2 carseats back there and of course a stroller in the trunk...

Is the car big enough to comfortably fit all of this, or am I better off getting something a bit bigger (if so what?)

Also- anyone with a lease- would you mind sharing what kinda "deal" you got (like how much down, roundabout what a month???)

Currently I lease an Altima and despite the fact we put 2500 down- my pymnts are still a bit higher than usual (I traded in a Durango which we still owed 7k+ on)

Since this time I don't owe any money on anything, I'm hoping payments wont go up, or maybe even go down...

I don't want them to take advantage of the fact we already have a high car pymnt- therefore bigger car means it should go higher...

Hope this made sense...

TIA

I don't know about the Murano, but from what I've seen the Honda Pilot would suit you. The Armada ios bigger but doesn't get great gas mileage at all. Please don't go in negotiating on your monthly payment. Go to edmunds.com and check out the invoice price of the car. That's what you want to negotiate on. Try to put nothing down on the lease.

Check out the car and see if you like it. When you sit down to talk numbers come prepared with the numbers.

My sister had the Murano and had to get rid of it when she had her second child. She said with 2 car seats, there wasn't really room for anyone else to sit comfortably in the back. She also had trouble fitting two strollers in the back.

I'm hoping that by the time I have baby #2 I wont need 2 strollers (I mean at 3.5-4 yrs old- do you still use a stroller???)

But I want there to be comfort- not 2 seat squashed together...

I would like to stay with Nissian, maybe Im naive but Id like to think because I have been a wonderful customer they'd do "right" by me this time around...

Even with a lease- I should be negotiating the price on the car instead of my payments???? Why??? (Im serious- Im totally stupid when it comes to stuff like this..)

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

if you negotiate on the price of the car, you will never over pay. The payments will fall into place, believe me. It's very easy for dealerships to negotiate on lease payments..it makes more sense to people..we are all figuring out our monthly budgets. Your payments directly correspond to the price of the car. Lower price=lower payments.

eta: you are not stupid at all.

I hear ya. We would use two strollers for her DD and mine. but with a double stroller and if you want to take a pack and play, it may be tight. (We're in the city so 3 year olds are still in strollers).

The two seats weren't squished together, but if she and her DH were in the car, they couldn't bring a passenger. The Murano ended up being too small for them because they take my mom a lot of places, and after DS came, they couldn't fit her in the car with the two children.

If that works for you, then go for it! Its a gorgeous car.

We have the pathfinder and it is pretty big. It has double row of seats that collapse and a good size trunk

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

I just got the 07 touring Murano and absolutely LOVE it. Two car seats and one person in the middle fits comfortably, impo. Enough cargo space for a double stroller and bags- again impo. We had the option to buy the 07 or 09. I went with the 07 (they did not make the 08) for several reasons all of which were peersonal comfort. Their was not much of a price difference in the two either, about 2k. It makes sense to go with the 09, but I just didn't care for some of the changes that was made to it.

Anyway, I am extremely happy with it. We have a Tahoe and I personally hate large SUV's. I'm not comfortable in them, however the psace is incredible. Just not for me and my needs.

Good luck with your decision. I do know the lease options are great right now, however we bought so I can't share any lease info. with you.

ETA: I agree with BluIze, never discuss payment, neg. on the final price first and rate.

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

We rented a murano when I got rear ended and it felt pretty big to us. We were able to fit alot of crap in the back. I dont know about car seats as I have no kids-but it seemed very roomy in the back seat to me-we had 3 people in the back-2 of which were heavier people and they were all comfy.

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

I have the Murano and while I love it I wouldn't get it again. The trunk is very small and with our stroller in the back I can hardly fit anything else. Also you can only fit one other person in the back seat if you have a car seat.

I have the Murano and I love it. The trunk space is decent. You can fit 2 car seats back there but there is not much room for someone else to sit. However the legroom is great. Much better than my old Explorer.

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

I love my Murano, but with that said, I've already told DH that if we have another child, I will have to get another car because there's not enough room in the trunk. My stroller took up the whole trunk - no room for groceries - I had to take the stroller out of the trunk when he turned 18 mos and replace it with an umbrella stroller to fit anything in there. Also, it will fit two car seats comfortably, but only a small child with no car seat can sit between them. I would go with another SUV - possibly even a minivan (i know, i know), but when your child gets older, s/he will want play dates and you will need to fit three comfortably. JMO.

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

I had the Infiniti Fx35 which is basically the same car and I loved the car so much but it wasn't child friendly in my opinion. You could fit 2 carseats and probably someone small in the middle and a double stroller but it would not be comfortable.
One thing that was annoying for us was that the way the back of the front seats were molded the passneger needed to sit pretty close to the dashboard inorder for the infant carrier and rear facing carseat to sit properly.
We have the Armada now and I am not crazy about it at all. I can't wait for DH's lease to go up so I can get something I like and he can drive the truck.

My SIL has the Saturn Outlook and I LOVE it. She has 3 kids but only one is in a carseat and it is front facing but we put my other nephew, my DD (both are still rear facing), my neice, MIL and other SIL all in the car at one time plus 2 strollers and it was tight but not bad.

Re: Nissian Murano or bigger????

LOVE the murano. there is no 2008 model, so the 09 is coming out now or in a week. They are really nice, comfortable, and dependable.
My sister has the 2006, i was just looking into leasing one, but decided to buy and couldnt afford it. If you get out there now, you may be able to find a few 07's for a better price.
