what would you wear...
I have an engagement party to go to on a Sat night at a VFW. What do you think the dress code is? DH thinks we can both wear jeans...I disagree.

No jeans. For him, kahki pants and a nice shirt... for you, nice pants or a skirt and a nice top. Because it's at a VFW, i wouldn't get too decked out, but it's still an engagement party so you want to look nice.

my friend had an engagement party at a VFW and there was one family of 5 who showed up in jeans - they looked so out of place
most women were in skirts, dressy pants, and casual dresses; men at least in khakis

I am thinking of wearing a black and white wrap dress with heels....would this be good? Also stockings...yes or no? I hate them and dont usually wear them but my mom told me i had to.

agreed, stocking only if you want to, but definately not necessary

I wouldn't wear jeans to an engagement party, even if it were at someone's house. like others said - khakis for him are fine. I would probably wear dress pants and a nice sweater or a cute top.

my friend had her engagement party at a VFW hall. no one wore jeans. i wore a dress as well as the other women that atteneded. i think if your DH wears dress pants and a button shirt, that should be fine. he doesn't need a suit or a tie in my opinion
