Spinoff to massages

I am 8w5d. Can I go for a regular massage? Or, does it have to be a pregnancy massage?

When I called the spa I go to they asked me to wait until my 2nd tri. I'm not sure though if that's required though. I would tell them how far along you are. They will not do it if they are not allowed to. You do need to request someone licensed to perform pre-natal massages.

I get a weekly massage and she is a bit timid as far as how I USED to get them. She avoids my legs now and concentrates on shoulders, neck & back!

Enjoy it! It's good for you!

I had to switch to laying on my side at 17 weeks Chat Icon because they don;t have the proper tables for the belly. But this is in a chiropractors office, not a regular massage place.

Several spas require a note from a doctor. I have heard that you should wait until the 2nd trimester. I had one at about 11 or 12 weeks. They would not do a very deep tissue massage. I would have been exhausted if they did, anyway.

Re: Spinoff to massages

Most place won't do it in 1st trimester (not recommended even if they did) and will take a dr's note.

No deep tissue. Mostly a light/relaxing massage. Focused on back (lower and upper) and shoulders

I personally work on the gluts a bit, especially if problems with sciatica.

No reflexology (feet work). You can have "some" massage on your feet but it's light pressure.

It is best to have a PG massage. You will need to disclose you are PG. For your health and your baby.

Most places won't do massages while you ar ein the first trimester. I would just wait till you were 12 weeks or at the very least check with your doctor first.
