What do you do with a Moses Basket?
I just received a beautiful one as a gift!  It is black and white damask and comes with a pillow and layette set. It is so much prettier than in this picture.
Do I use this for the baby to sleep in/rest in when I go to someone else's house? Should I use it in our house, though we'll have all sorts of gear here? Give me a clue please!

I think it works like a bassinet...when they're tiny, it's a portable sleep station of sorts.
It's very cute.

I think most people use them instead of a bassinet. At other peoples houses I usually just used the car seat as a place for the baby to hang out, but if you're staying for a while a moses basket could be a good alternative to bringing a pack n play.

i loved my moses basket. dd would sleep in it on the coffee table during the day.
we bought it to my il's house on thanksgiving and she slept in that in the pack and play since she was tiny.

This was my FAVORITE thing in the early months! whenever DD would fall asleep i could conveniently put her in it. if i needed to move her i could do so very easily. she slept so well in it. she could sleep in it on the floor or on a table or in her crib. i could move it around without disturbing her. it was awesome and i think it is a totally overlooked and underused item! can you tell that i loved this thing!

They have stands for them so they can off the floor. I plan on trying it since dd didn't like the bassinet at all. Plus, I can plop it in the middle of the bed.

I considered getting one primarily to take it to other people's houses. I did get a pack and play, so I didn't buy it. I am sort of glad, because I didn't travel too much with him, and now, at 2 months I think DS would be too big for it (but he is a big boy).

My BFF loves hers. Their DS sleeps in their room with it b/c their bedroom is too small to have a bassinett or pnp in there.
