Advice thats been given

So last weekend I was listening to DH and BIL talk. BIL was telling him advice on parenthood and I thought it was cute/funny.

1. Don't let the baby sleep with you. He said he let their first child sleep in the bed with them and even now at 5 yrs old they struggle with her. He was cracking himself up telling my DH he couldn't believe they actually have a second child!

2. No eating food in the car. He said mats are great but somehow food always misses the mat. He hates finding sticky candy and half eaten bars in the car.

I sat their listening - quite amused as DH thought this was great advice. I know we all get plenty of unwanted advice but I am thinking of advice that have receive that was good. So...what have people told you that YOU actually thought was good advice?

Best advice I have EVER gotten.....Raising your child is like politics...Be polite and listen to the advice others give you, but in the end do what's best for you!
