dog food issue

We changed our dogs food to Kirkland a couple of weeks before my big dog, Nico, was put down (it was horrible). So now our remaining dog is 35 lbs. The only size bag the Kirkland comes in is 40lb bags. So this bag will last a long time. We do put the entire bag in another bag and in a wooden barrell. I'd hate to change her food AGAIN just to find a smaller bag of food somewhere else (like 20lb bag), but 40lbs seems like it will take forever for her to eat, especially when she gets 1 cup a day. I wonder if bugs will find their way into the bag, etc. This may be silly, but what would you do?

Re: dog food issue

Honestly I'd worry about the food spoiling if you think it will take too long to eat. If there is any chance of it growing mold it can be very dangerous to the dog.

What about a plastic storge bin to keep the air out?

We have the small one for Dottie's food and it always stays fresh.

Re: dog food issue

think about it...if you worried for a few bucks (depending on size) you get a new bag...is it worth it..

i agree with above poster...use a bin that gets sealed...

I like these bins.. Do you buy the 20 or 40 pound bags?
