I quit my job!!!
So that's it. After having 14 hour days for 6 months, I quit. It's a combination of alot of things- they weren't straight with me about how the maternity leave was going to work. (They told me at first I had to be there 6 months, now all of the sudden it's a year). I was originally hired as a temp but went to perm a month after I started. It's been exhausting commuting into Boston every day but I handled it pretty well. These last few weeks have just been torture though and I started having some contractions during the day. So after seeing my OB, she suggested I try to work only 3 days a week instead of 5. DH said no way, I'm done.
DH travels EVERY week and he's not home except on the weekend and he was nervous as it was about me commuting.
I am excited to be home but now I don't know what to do with myself!! I'm going to have to maybe do something part time and local.. ?? DH of course would rather I relax at home and be suzy housewife but I think I'm going to go stir-crazy!

i was laid off at 6 1/2 months pregnant and thought i would be board but i ate and shopped most of the time. also caught up on sleep- setup the baby room and reorganized like 3 times. put together the pack and play, swing and caught up on some tv. enjoy it now becuase once the baby comes you wont have the time.

I have been home for months now. I have my good and bad days, because I'd love to be working now, but couldn't get hired!
But it's nice to just take care of me and the baby without the stress of working.
You might get bored at times, but wait, when the baby come you will welcome the time at home!!!!

as long as your DH has his job, and you guys are financially secure, enjoy the moment! Re-organize everything and nest..... soon, your little one will take up a good portion of your time!

Set everything up for the baby. I was planning on taking 2 weeks off before having DS and I was 2 1/2 weeks early - the room wasn't ready and it was tough with a newborn to finish everything. I would also rent a bunch of movies and read a bunch of books - both things I love to do and don't have the time and/or energy to do now.
Enjoy it- you'll be very busy before you know it

Congrats! I could never go crazy being home... always so much to do... in fact I'd feel so much less stressed out if I didn't have to deal with corporate BS all day every day. Good luck with everything!!!

I think you made the right decision ~ I was laid off last friday (trying to figure out what to do next) DH is loving it ~ two days in a row he has had dinner on the table ~ since I used to commute to the city everyday from suffolk DH is a happy camper... enjoy every minute now ~ once your little bundle of joy is here you will be busy!
