Re: hair color
i stick with the "ash brown" family - some browns come looking very red and i prefer to not have reddish tones in my hair.
i sometimes use Loreal preference dark ash brown. i like it.

Re: hair color
You're going to laugh but I happen to love Revlon's Colorsilk. It's the cheapest one but I've gotten such great results with it. Loreal Preference is good too. (I've never had any problems with any of the Loreal products) If you want something Ammonia free and something that covers up greys really well, try Loreal Color Spa Moisture Actif.. I've used this one too and it's excellent!
For Dark Brown, I suggest Dark brown, it's a dark brown with warm tones to it.
For chocolate brown (not sure if you want light or dark), try light ash brown.
as for the Color Spa, I would choose either of the following: tawny, cocoa, espresso
Good luck!

Re: hair color
I have dark brown hair with a ton of greys up front.
I use Clairol Nice and Easy and switch it up between Natural Medium Neutral Brown, Natural Medium Golden Brown and Natural Medium Spice (when I want it a little more red).
I also use the Nice and Easy Root Touch Up, so I don't have to color as often.
