Re: back pain
Im only 17w5d and I have had the worst lower back pain since 12w.
I read somewhere posture is key. Sit and stand straight all the time. Never stand with your legs together but more with a space between to evenly distribute the added weight.
And DH's massages usually help too!

Re: back pain
I still have bad sciatica pain from the last pregnancy, and I have been going to physical therapy. I've leaned that it is better to stretch out your back and legs than to just rest. Resting just makes the muscles immobile, and it takes a LONG time to recover. Fee better.

Re: back pain
I do 15 minutes on the stationary bike. Then I do a stretch by putting my foot up against a wall and stretching my calf out. YOu can to the same thing with putting a wedge under your foot. THen I put one heel at a time on a stool (or something like it) and then just bend over slightly to put strain on my hamstring.
I also lay down and cross my leg over my chest to stretch out the hip muscle.
On of the newer exercises I do is 3 sets of 10 crunches...which I am betting I can't do now. I also go on all fours, and without moving my back, lift one leg at a time in back of me straight.
I was told that I have a herniated disk in my back, that is pinching the sciatica nerve. The sciatica nerve is one of the largest nerves in your body. So when it gets inflammed, the muscles around the nerve try to constrict the nerve, but then that gives muscle pain. So in essence, when you muscles are trying to help, they are really harming you not letting you move and stretch.
